The list where the parcels stay with the giver

Lena has moved. The flat is set up, the housewarming is in three weeks, and the guests are asking what is still missing. What Lena does not want: twenty parcels arriving one by one beforehand, to be unpacked and put away before anybody is even there.

That makes moving in the counter-example to every other occasion on this site. Everywhere else masked direct delivery is the core. Here it gets in the way.

Why here of all places

Why direct delivery is a nuisance here

A housewarming is an evening on which gifts are handed over. That is the difference from a wedding, where they are simply allowed to arrive.

With direct delivery
Twenty parcels stand at the door of a flat that still has boxes in it. They are unpacked before the party, and nothing is handed over
With delivery to the givers
Everyone gets their gift at home, wraps it and brings it along. The evening gets a moment it would otherwise not have
What falls away
No delivery address is needed at all. The list therefore never appears under "no delivery address – cannot be ordered"
What stays
The reconciliation. Bought is bought, everybody sees it, nobody brings the same tool case

The reconciliation hangs on the order status, not on the direction of delivery. That is why this reversal breaks nothing.

The list itself

Twenty-three wishes for an empty flat

A housewarming list is practical rather than festive. Much of it is small, some of it is needed more than once.

The last row is not a product but a promise. That is what a wish outside the shop is for as well: somebody takes it on, and for everybody else it is settled.

What this occasion turns on

One decision, two side effects

The direction of delivery is decided per list. The same person can have the wedding delivered to themselves and the housewarming to the givers.

Delivery address
Is not needed. The owner does not have to store one, and none can be missing
Address masking
Falls away, because there is nothing to mask
Mixed cart
Not critical: the gift and your own shopping go to the same address anyway
What the guest reads at the top
"These gifts aren't delivered directly – they come to your own address and you hand them over in person."

The difference is described in detail in the chapter Setting up.

What you set up for it

Little, and most of it is the customer's

For you as the shop there is almost nothing left to do here.

Where the gifts go
The customer picks "to the giver" in the recipient tab of their list
Allow reserving
Your setting. Useful if two guests want to share a bigger item
Theme "moving in"
Not included, but created in two minutes: name, colour, icon
Date
The evening of the party. After it the list accepts nothing more

Common questions

Can the gifts be delivered to the guests?

Yes. Per list you can choose whether delivery goes to the owner or to the giver. With the second, every guest gets their gift at home and brings it to the party.

Does the list then need a delivery address?

No. Without delivery to the owner no address is needed, and there is nothing to mask either.

Do the guests see that they bring the gift along themselves?

Yes, a sentence saying so stands right above the list. The cart then behaves like any normal order.

Can the same customer have both kinds of list?

Yes, the decision is taken per list. Masked delivery for the wedding, delivery to the givers for the housewarming.

What about bigger purchases?

The list can carry them as one wish with a higher quantity, or as a wish outside the shop that a guest takes over.

Do bought wishes disappear here too?

Yes. The reconciliation does not depend on the direction of delivery but on the order status.
