Do I need a plugin for this?

Four ways are open: stay with Shopware's built-in wishlist, buy a wishlist plugin, use an external portal, or run this plugin. In English both of the first two are called a wishlist, and they are not the same thing: the built-in one is a list for yourself, a plugin adds several of them and a link to share. They do different things and they cost different amounts. This overview shows both, including the rows where we are not in front.

The wishlist plugin column comes from the publicly visible store listings in the wishlist category of the Shopware store, checked on 4 September 2026. Where nothing is stated there, the cell is marked as not documented rather than as missing. The listing itself is always what counts. The external portal column describes gift registry services outside the shop as a kind, not one particular provider.

The three rows where we are not in front

What this plugin cannot do

An overview in which your own product wins everywhere is not an overview.

No reach from outside
The plugin organises the wishes of people who already know your shop. It brings no new visitors, the way a portal with an audience of its own does
Your shop only
A list can only contain products from your range and freely written wishes. A list that brings together orders across several shops is something only a portal can do
No CSV import, no price alert
Individual wishlist plugins offer both. For a gift registry around a celebration it hardly matters, but it is missing

Common questions

Can Shopware do gift registries out of the box?

No. Shopware ships a wishlist - the feature its German storefront calls Merkzettel: a list for yourself, not for sharing and without any reconciliation. There is no occasion, no reservation, no detection of a purchase and no masked delivery. For a celebration that is not enough.

What is the difference between a wishlist plugin and a gift registry?

A wish list is there to be looked at, a gift registry to be bought from. The wishlist plugins in the store offer several lists per customer and a link to share. What they do not offer is the reconciliation: that a bought wish disappears for the others, that it can be reserved, and that delivery goes to the recipient without the giver learning the address.

When is an external gift registry portal the better choice?

When the list is meant to span several shops, or when you want the portal's own audience. In return the order does not run through your shop, the revenue does not stay with you, and the customers' data sits with the provider.

What can this plugin not do?

Three things, and they are in the table. It brings no reach from outside. It cannot keep a list across several shops. And it has no CSV import and no price alert, as individual wishlist plugins offer.

Does the gift registry replace Shopware's built-in wishlist?

No, it stands beside it. Shopware's wishlist stays what it is: a list for yourself. The gift registry is the list you hand on.

Where do the figures on the wishlist plugins come from?

From the publicly visible store listings in the wishlist category of the Shopware store, checked on 4 September 2026. Where nothing is stated there, the cell is marked as not documented rather than as missing. The listing itself is always what counts.
