The list strangers are allowed to see

A streamer wants to improve their setup and puts the link under their video. The viewers want to chip in; the streamer wants to give them neither a name nor an address. This is the one occasion on this site where the link does not go to invited guests but to everybody.

The list itself

Nine wishes, three of them more than once

This is the page linked under the video. The states sit on every wish, so that nobody buys something somebody else has already taken care of.

Door soundproofing1not in this shopAlready taken on

The last row is the case a plain cart cannot picture: the soundproofing comes from a hardware store. It is on the list anyway, because otherwise two viewers set off independently. A wish outside the shop can be taken over without any money running through your shop.

What this occasion turns on

They stay anonymous although delivery goes straight to them

This is the point the occasion stands or falls on. Without masking they would have to either give their address to strangers or give up direct delivery.

On the list
Only the display name, the channel name for instance. No first name, no surname, no town
In the cart
The same line. The viewer sees that delivery is masked, and does not see where it goes
On the invoice
Their own address as the billing address, the owner's nowhere
What stays real
The country and an empty postcode, so that shipping and tax remain correct. The parcel service gets the right address

Delivery note yes, invoice no. The invoice names the giver with their address. If it is in the parcel, the owner knows the sender - usually unwanted here. How you set that is under Shipping to the list owner.

Anonymous in both directions

It is not only the owner who wants to stay unrecognised. A viewer may prefer to give without being named as well.

The box at checkout
The giver decides whether their name is passed on
What the owner sees then
"A giver" or the first name with an initial – that is your setting
The email address
The owner never gets to see it, not even for givers who are not anonymous
The thank-you note
Runs through the shop. They say thank you without knowing an address

What is different about a public list

Three things nobody needs at a wedding

A list seen by eighty invited guests moderates itself. A list under a video does not. These three places are therefore the important ones here.

Report link
Any visitor can send a list to review. The report goes into your moderation, not to the owner
Word filter
Fifty terms are included. A hit blocks nothing; it puts the list forward as a review note
Block with a reason
The only decision that actually takes a list offline. The owner is shown your reason

Deliberately not on the list: a password. It would work, but it makes no sense here – putting a password on a list everybody is meant to see, and then writing it next to the link, protects nothing. More on the review list in the chapter The administration.

What you set up for it

Four places

The defaults carry almost all of this case. These four are worth setting deliberately.

Address masking
On out of the box. Without it this occasion does not work
Giver anonymity
Decide how an anonymous giver appears to the owner
Report link
Switch it on for lists shared in public
Allow reserving
So that a viewer can hold a more expensive item until they can afford it

A date is usually superfluous here: a setup grows over months. Without one the list runs indefinitely, and the reminders that hang on it fall away by themselves.

Common questions

Can an influencer share a wish list without giving away their address?

Yes, that is exactly what masked delivery is for. Only the display name is on the list, the channel name for instance. Delivery still goes straight to them - the giver sees neither name nor address, not in the cart, not in the order confirmation, not in emails, not on the invoice.

What makes a public list different from a wedding registry?

The circle. At a wedding everybody knows everybody and the link goes to eighty invited guests. A list under a video is seen by strangers. Three things therefore matter more here: the masking, the report link and the word filter.

Can the givers stay anonymous?

Yes, if the shop allows it. The giver ticks a box at checkout; the owner then sees "a giver" or a first name with an initial, depending on what you configured. The giver's email address is never shown to them in any case.

How does the list handle one expensive item?

No differently from any other wish: whoever buys it buys all of it. If a group is to share the cost, the owner enters a voucher in a suitable denomination several times instead - that route is on the group gift page.

What happens if somebody misuses or reports the list?

Every report lands in your shop's moderation, not with the owner. You decide: mark as reviewed, block with a reason, or release it again. The word filter sends conspicuous lists there by itself but blocks nothing automatically.

Does such a list need a date?

No. Without one it runs indefinitely, and the reminder mails that hang on the date fall away. For an ongoing project that is the normal case.

Does this pay off for the shop?

These are buyers who would never have seen the shop otherwise, and they buy a precisely named product at the regular price. Returns are rare, because the list says what is actually needed.
