While an order has not yet reached the state above (e.g. open, unpaid), the wish stays earmarked for it and nobody else can buy it. After this many days the earmark is dropped automatically and the wish is open to everyone again. 0 = never drops it (the earmark holds until purchase or cancellation). This has nothing to do with the reservations further down, which a giver makes deliberately without buying.

Inside the shop the recipient address is always fully masked: the giver only ever sees the display name, the placeholder lines and the country - in the order confirmation, the account, every email and on the invoice. This setting only concerns the copy a payment provider reads while it processes the payment, which some providers show to the buyer. The recipient's street is never transmitted either way. With placeholders only, a provider can consider the address unusable and record the buyer's own address instead - the parcel still goes to the recipient, but the provider's record of the transaction then shows a different address than the delivery, which weakens a buyer-protection case. Tested with PayPal.

The delivery note is frequently placed INSIDE the parcel - if the parcel ever passes through the gift-giver, the real address would leak, so the note shows the same masked placeholder as the buyer. The real recipient address always stays on the order itself, so shipping labels, carrier integrations and ERP export ship correctly regardless. Only enable this if your delivery note stays strictly internal (e.g. you ship by carrier label, not by the printed note). Also make sure the delivery note is not set to show in the customer account (Settings > Documents), otherwise the buyer could download it and see the real address.

An order has exactly one delivery address, and a gift order ships to the list's masked recipient - so EVERY item of that order goes to the list owner, including the ones the giver added themselves. That can be useful (flowers or a card alongside the wish) but it is never a way to buy something for yourself. With this on, the cart says so on every line. Each list owner still has to opt in, because the parcel arrives at their door. Note that the buyer remains the contract partner while the goods sit with the recipient, which affects returns and the right of withdrawal.

Every wish carries how many of it are held and how many were bought. Those two numbers decide whether the shop still offers it.
